In 2016, Through & Around were procured to manage the refurbishment project for the theatre, from RIBA Stage 3 through delivery. The refurbishment project included:
- improvement of the acoustic performance between the auditoria
- improvement the front of house facilities and audience experience
- creation of a space for private hire and hospitality sponsorship
- elimination of the problems of solar gain within the front of house in summer
- improvement of digital infrastructure
The theatre went on to win the Best Performing Venue award at the Mersey Partnership Tourism Awards.
